Connecticut Huskies Vs. South Florida Bulls Football Live Stream 20 Oct 2018 We’re getting closer to “must win” time for ranked teams in college football as things have got a little shaky at the top of the polls. Neither team in this contest has any shot at a playoff berth. But what happens in South Florida has major implications for several teams at the bottom of the top-25. Let’s jump in to CovertheSpread365’s Uconn vs. South Florida preview.

    University of Connecticut Huskies Preview
UConn has been a doormat this season with 40+ point losses at the hands of Cincinnati, Boise State, and Memphis. The Huskies come in at 1-5 and have beaten only FCS program Rhode Island. Huskies quarterback David Pindell has had a poor year in the pocket for UConn. He completed only eleven passes against Boise and just nine against Cincinnati. While UConn’s offense has been towards the bottom of the league, its defense has been even worse. Looking at defensive efficiency, Uconn ranks last of 130 teams in the FBS with an unbelievably poor rating of 1.4 on a scale of 100. Not only is Uconn’s defense the worst in the league, they’re the worst by quite a wide margin. Only Coastal Carolina’s subpar defensive unit is even in the same zip-code of futility. There are some other bad programs in college football, but only maybe Rice gives UConn a run for their money for the infamous title of worst-FBS team.

    South Florida Bulls Preview
After his dismissal from Texas for losing seven games every year, Charlie Strong has found a home with the Bulls in a situation with significantly less expectations. Unlike Austin – where a one game losing streak is too long – Tampa presents a nice fit for Strong. Last year, his Bulls posted a 10-2 record, losing only in nail-biters to strong opponents Houston and UCF. They capped off 2017 with a win against Texas Tech in the Birmingham Bowl. This year, USF is back to their winning ways, coming in to Saturday’s contest at #21 in the polls and a healthy 6-0. The Golden Hurricane gave the Bulls a run for their money last week, as South Florida had to come back from a fourth quarter deficit to dispatch lowly Tulsa. Bulls QB Blake Barnett has shown arm strength and accuracy this year, though the defenses he has faced have been less than stellar. In recent weeks, the USF has turned to the run game in crunch time with Florida transfer Jordan Cronkrite picking up most of the workload on the ground.

    South Florida Trends

South Florida is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games

South Florida Bulls vs. UConn Huskies Pick, Prediction, Odds
While Charlie Strong’s teams have a history of wilting under the bright lights, his squads have been known to take care of business against bottom-feeder programs. UConn does not have what it takes to compete with anybody – let alone a hungry, ranked program like USF. One note from Vegas: there has been significant line movement on this game as USF opened at -30 and now sits as 33.5 point favorites for Saturday’s game in Tampa. While it’s scary to lay a huge number with USF, especially given their dud of a performance last week at Tulsa, there is no way I can recommend placing any amount of money on a terrible UConn team. I’m going to lay the points and hope that Strong’s team comes out strong in Tampa.
